Trying to mimic an old Bengali tradition of kantha stitching, the idea is to re-purpose old materials and to give it new life by using a running stitch method. Cultures across the world have variations of this idea with the Sashiko stitching in Japan and the African American tradition of quilts from Gee’s Bend in Alabama. Giving new life to gently used materials that are full of poignant memories.
